Weather related closure procedures 25-26

Posted on by Bow & Dunbarton School Districts

Good Morning,

As we head into another New England winter season, weather related decisions will become part of our routine. Ahead of inclement weather, I’d like to share our procedures.

If we have to make a weather-related decision for a delay, early dismissal or cancellation, a message will be sent to parents, staff and students through our emergency alert in Alma. You will receive the alert through your selected channel - either text message or phone call. A copy of the alert will also be sent to the first email address of all recipients.

Caller ID will show +16032244728 for voice calls and a number with a (503) area code for text recipients. Additionally, there will be a notification shared using WMUR broadcast messages and on their website: https://www.wmur.com/weather/closings .

Weather-related calls are difficult decisions to make and I want to assure you safety is our highest priority. Weather prediction is not an exact science and small changes in weather can result in significant changes to road conditions. No matter the decision that is made, if you feel your child should stay home from school on a particular day, please keep them home and we will support that decision.

Decisions about a delayed start or school cancellation need to be made by 5:30. If we were to call an early dismissal, that decision needs to be made by 10:15-10:30.

In all cases, I will try to communicate with the community as soon as possible. Should you have any questions, please reach out to the school where your child attends or to me directly.

Take care,

Marcy
